Getting to Darmstadt

By plane

Darmstadt does not have its own airport. The closest and most convenient international airport is: 

Frankfurt Airport (FRA) – approx. 30 km Frankfurt Airport is one of Europe’s main air hubs, offering frequent direct flights from major European cities such as Paris, Geneva, London, and Barcelona. 

From Frankfurt Airport, Darmstadt can be reached easily by train or by car.

By train

Darmstadt is well connected to the German and European railway network via Darmstadt Central Station (Darmstadt Hbf).

Frankfurt (Main) → Darmstadt: ~15 minutes

Frankfurt Airport → Darmstadt: ~30 minutes

Paris → Darmstadt: ~4 hours (via high-speed train to Frankfurt, then regional or ICE)

Geneva → Darmstadt: ~5 hours

London → Darmstadt: ~6.5–7 hours (Eurostar to Paris or Brussels, then ICE)

Barcelona → Darmstadt: ~11–12 hours (via Paris or Lyon)

By road

Darmstadt is located near the A5 and A67 motorways and is easily accessible by car from many European cities.

Paris – 570 km, ~5.5–6 hours

Geneva – 450 km, ~5 hours

London – 800 km (incl. Channel crossing), ~8–9 hours

Barcelona – 1,200 km, ~12 hours

Parking facilities are available throughout Darmstadt, including near the city center and the main railway station.

Local transportation

Darmstadt has an efficient public transportation system consisting of trams and buses, allowing easy travel between the main station, hotels, conference venues, and different parts of the city.
